Five Books To Tickle Your Funny Bone

November 18, 2008

Looking to share a laugh with your preschooler?  Here are a few books you may be interested in, and be sure to check out the other city guides today for their picks as well!

Giggle, Giggle, Quack by Doreen Cronin - This is the sequel to Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type but I guess by virtue of having the word "giggle" in the title, it elicits more laughs from my four year old.  In this book, Farmer Brown heads out of town and leaves his brother Bob in charge.  Things get a little silly when Duck intercepts the messages that Farmer Brown left for Bob.

No, David! by David Shannon - If your child has ever been told "no", then this book will make you both laugh.  David gets in trouble for doing things that have probably gotten your child into trouble as well.

I Am Invited to a Party by Mo Willems - Piggie is invited to a party, but she's never been to one before.  So she invites her best buddy, Gerald to come along, because Gerald knows parties.  But does he really?

There's a Wocket in my Pocket by Dr. Seuss - My son loves nonsense words, so this book is one of his favorites.  In this Dr. Seuss classic, a young boy introduces the reader to all the different creatures that live in his house.

Good Night, Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann - This mostly wordless book is about a zookeeper closing up the zoo.  The animals don't want to be left alone, and they follow him home!

What's your favorite silly book to read with your children?
